All work and some play...

It has been a really, really busy few weeks for me, with my university projects, personal projects and work tasters (both inside and outside of uni) I feel like I've barely had time to breathe. But despite being inundated, I really do feel like I've learnt a lot, and not just technical stuff, but about my own work ethic.

I've been lucky enough to have had two work tasters so far, with Gelicity (see previous post) and Call Miss Jones, which I'm still working on. Outside of uni, my sister Tracey works for Rhyl  Football club and Football in the Community which helps people to further their skills through adult learning and has a football club open to those with a love for the sport and anyone who wants to get fit. She asked me to visit the club to do some photographs of the first team players for their last fixture of the season.

Ask anyone who knows me and they'll tell you I'm not a huge fan of football. But it was worthwhile as I want to be able to show that I'm versatile. It isn't the first time I've photographed a football match however, I used to do it when I worked at Studio 5 in Rhyl (which no longer exists).

I was more than a little nervous walking onto the pitch behind the team, they lined themselves up perfectly so there was no real direction needed, other than moving them all so they lined up with the background. There was the usual banter to be expected with footballers, so I was glad to get off the grass and leave them to what they do best. I was also asked to take a few shots of the mascots coming onto the pitch, and then there was a minute silence for long time supporter and fan, Ian Johnson who sadly passed away recently, after a long battle with cancer.

After I had taken the photographs, I was told the team shot would appear soon on in their brochure, I hope to get a copy of this. Another of my shots has already appeared on the website, James Stead was presented with his under 18 semi-professional Wales cap by manager Greg Strong.

That day, Rhyl faced Rhos Aelwyd, I stayed for a little while to recover the use of my hands and to watch the game. As I headed towards my car, the noise on the grounds erupted, Rhyl had scored. They went on to win 3-0, well done lilywhites! I very much doubt I'm going to get into football anytime soon, but it was an enjoyable few hours. A massive thanks to my sister Tracey who arranged the whole thing, and was ran off her poor feet in the canteen feeding the hungry spectators!
